Over
the weekend of the 15th and 16th of January Barry Sheavills
and the fansfueler team were part of Santa
Pod Raceway's stand at the Autosport International
Show at the NEC, Birmingham. Also exhibiting with Santa
Pod were our arch rivals Carter
Motorsport with their show car, the Think Pink Racing
competition bike of Roland and Sandra Chaplain and Martin
Hill with Fireforce
2 which was wearing its new Fireforce
3 Santa
Pod promotional body.
We
were kept busy all weekend promoting fansfueler and drag
racing in general, and meeting both current and potential
sponsors who were also exhibiting at the show.
We
always enjoy spending time with our friends from NGK
and Wheelright/AEZ
and we must thank everyone at NGK
for the best coffee in the whole of the NEC! Barry was
also keen to visit his friends at the Motorsport
Industry Association and Motorsport
Valley who were also exhibiting at the show. Barry
was presented with Motorsport
Valley's new brochure in which he was named as one
of Britain's all time, motorsport heroes.
We
also visited the Bahrain
International Circuit stand where we discussed the
amount of interest they had had to date in drag racing
and their first FIA drag racing event in November.
It
was good to see a couple of our members at the show. Both
Guy Waltham and Phil Cottingham stopped by for a chat
whilst at the NEC and we met quite a number of other drag
racing fans over the weekend. It was also nice to be able
to preach the gospel of drag racing to the unconverted,
many of whom were at the show to see large plastic F1
cars hanging off a wall. Hopefully after being dipped
in nitro they will have seen the light!
We
will hopefully have pictures from the event added to our
gallery in the next few days. Many thanks must once again
go to the team at Santa
Pod for all their help.
