The fansfueler project, launched at the FIA European Drag Racing Finals at Santa Pod, has already enjoyed considerable success.

The project, the first of its kind in Europe, is an initiative enabling nitro drag racing fans to get closer to the sport by sponsoring a top fuel dragster. The current driver being sponsored by the project is former FIA champion, Barry Sheavills.

The project team has already attracted a significant amount of pledges from nitro fans all over the UK, with the amount now rising on a daily basis.

The team have also been contacted by a number of corporate sponsors but have stressed that they still need the continued support of drag racing fans, to ensure they reach the minimum required.

Chris Parker from the project team said “We’re very happy with the progress to date and would like to thank all those dedicated fans who have made pledges. However, we would urge drag racing fans to continue to make pledges so that we can ensure we reach the minimum required at the earliest opportunity. This exciting initiative is not just about getting Barry Sheavills back to the track – its important for the future of the sport in Europe as a whole.”
